The top 10 most literate cities in America |
|
http://news.yahoo.com/s/livescience/20071227/sc_livescience/mostliterateuscitiesminneapolisandseattle1—Minneapolis, Minn. 2—Seattle, Wash. 3—St. Paul, Minn. 4—Denver, Colo. 5—Washington, D.C. 6—St. Louis, Mo. 7—San Francisco, Calif. 8—Atlanta, Ga. 9—Pittsburgh, Pa. 10—Boston, Mass. Not too many cities from the old Confederacy I see. ;) I think Will Pitt is going to raise Holy Hell that Pittsburgh, St. Louis and Atlanta were ranked above Boston.

1. I'm just surprised St. Louis made it into a top ten list that's good and not bad... |

Of course, it seems like we have a bookstore on every city block. :)

38. Ah, a Blues fan, always nice to see a fellow St. Louisan on this board. |
|
Though I actually live in St. Charles, right across the river from St. Louis.

5. No I thought with Boston having all those colleges they'd be in the top 5 |
|
The Pittsburgh thing with me comes from being a Bengals fan and a Browns sympathizer. Cincinnati being the mid-western capitol of Fascism I can understand it's low literacy, but Pittsburgh, I smell something very foul indeed with this list.

|
Seriously St. Paul? Seriously? Minneapolis is what, 10 miles away more or less? How can a city so close kick your butt in the ratings? You couldn't come in second at the very least? Then again, you are the city that created the political beast known as Norm Coleman...
:hide:

We have a reputation as being a dumb blue-collar town, but my experience has been that the average person is more highly educated here than in other places I've lived.
