want to see what dirt poor is?
Edited on Sat Dec-29-07 01:00 AM by nadine_mn
My husband and I rent a house, we cannot afford to buy (bad credit because of bad decisions)and having 4 pets (3 large dogs) makes finding a rental difficult. Recently the city made our landlord fix our house (this fall) however these are actual picture of our house for 6 years:

And inside the the back hall - that is the insulation covered in mouse poo

Granted people are worse off...and we made some bad financial decisions, however just in case ya'll got tired of looking at filthy rich

6. if those were some of the worse pics then depending on the floor plan...
and interior, $900 locked-in wouldn't be so bad

7. really it isn't that bad - I've been homeless as a kid
so a roof is better - however the inside is equally crappy - the city inspector had a field day with the interior. Wiring, plumbing, mold and rotten floors.

But the guy who the landlord hired to fix was a very sweet older man (70's)who we adopted as Grandpa (he loves our dogs and would spend time every day playing with them)

2. I'm glad the city made your landlord fix the house up.
Never mind how the disrepair looked; it doesn't look like a real healthy place to live.

Hope it's much better now for you two.

5. it is! The neighbors kept trying to get it condemned
because the new development directly behind us - the homes were sold for $300-400k. Seriously - everyday I would laugh that we shared the same backyard.

8. Yikes! Good thing you still have a roof. Around here...
the town would likely yank any COs or such. Just last month they threw a bunch of people out in the street until the owner fixed the place up.

9. Some states don't make the landlord do necessary repairs.
I'd be concerned he was holding off to sell the land to be cleared by a developer for new homes though.

11. actually thats how we got the rental
We had a gorgeous house that we were renting to own, then turns out the realtor was pocketing the money and not giving it to the owners of the house who listed the property w/ him. One day the owners showed up and said we had 30 days to leave because they were selling the house...we said no we have a lease w/ the realtor... anyway fast forward we had 30 days to find a place that allowed 3 pets. We had no security deposit (realtor kept that and we used that for our last months rent) and were freaking out.

Our current landlord bought the house and all the land behind it for the development. They weren't sure what to do w/ the house and we asked if we could rent it (we called about another property that they had listed, it was taken). They didn't ask for a security deposit, or application or anything - just said sure.

so the property has been developed around us which is why there was so much pressure to fix it up

10. I hear you my friend
The city that I live in has been beat down pretty badly by off-shoring and the drug war. Peace and low stress.
