I really like Family Guy, except I hate...
Edited on Sun Dec-30-07 02:59 AM by CreekDog
The talking dog and talking baby and since they are in so much of the show, it's kinda hard to enjoy the show without getting annoyed every 2-13 seconds.

What I like about the simpsons is that the cat meows, the dog barks, the baby can't say more than 1 word, etc. etc. I guess the cognitive dissonance works a little bit differently in that show --and better.

Frankly they could do a show with just Peter and the wife.

Time to give Pebbles, Bam Bam and Dino their own separate shows.

2. Meg and Lois are fine, even the teenage son is okay with me
And Peter cracks me up. The episode where he gets a prostate exam --OMG...that was so funny. I had the misfortune of that even though I'm not 40 and I can say that my reaction was nearly the same, meaning PTSD, which is essentially what they showed in that episode, well that moment of it.

3. Stewie is a riot and tends to steal every scene.
Brian would be my alter ego if my primary ego had been smart enough to come up with hm first.

13. Well the British accent just makes it feel so, so, PBS
Edited on Sun Dec-30-07 08:52 AM by CreekDog
And for me, British PBS stuff meant Sesame Street, Zoom, etc. were not on and the TV was useless.

I have my issues.

Maybe I'm just not imaginative enough to appreciate a baby with super intelligence combined with sociopathic manias. I mean appreciate that as comedy.

On the other hand, Moe hitting Curly with a shovel --I'm dyin!

12. Yes, I was only kidding...
I'm an entertainer & have a tendency to see everything as a straight line. No offense intended.

5. I'm not able to imagine the show without Stewie and Brian.
Brian is the show's grounding, its sole voice of reason.

10. Yeah, voice of reason
"Look, you can't run away from your problems, Chris. That's what I tried to do. I joined the Peace Corps and a day later I was two continents away.

"Really?"

"Yep, but 6,000 miles and all the dope I could smoke still couldn't separate me from my problems. And this was good dope! I mean, it was growing everywhere! Oh my god, this one time we got so baked we ended up eating all the food the World Health Organization had airlifted in. Oh, man, those villagers were so pissed! They tried to chase us, but lemme just say, thank god for polio!"

16. Okay.. The closest thing you'll get to a 'voice of reason' on the show.

7. The talking dog and talking baby have some of the funniest lines!
:P

I don't watch that show that much (2 & 1/2 Men is on) but I do watch
it and they are the side kicks and sometimes the main course! :P
They keep the comedy going...

Family Guy is a very astute comedy cartoon for mature adults, IMHO. ;)

15. So many "jokes" are dragged out several seconds,
and you know it's because they're stalling for time -- is 21 minutes of dialogue too much for them to juggle?

People on DU think I delve into the realm of crude tackiness, but I can't hold a candle match compared to what F.G. does on a weekly basis. (Even then, it's a mistake I'm battling to rectify and like any deprogramming session it'll take time to fully escape the sin - I don't expect Seth to do so any time soon. He's making too much money off of it. Then again, maybe I should do the same thing; Seth could do with competition and no doubt my throbbing manhood is muuuuuuuuuuuuch bigger. :eyes: )

17. I'd like to see less unfunny unless your Seth diversions, like that time when
Ben Franklin asked Thomas Jefferson to sign something when they were both drunk.

Or such unfunny stuff like that.

American Dad is better anyway, Roger is both Stewie and Brian.
