Yeah, I know Micro$oft and/or Windows have their share of detractors around here, and they certainly deserve it, but Windows ME was the single biggest piece of shit that ever crawled out of the sewers at Redmond. Yes, even worse than Vista.

So my advice, if you still have a computer of that vintage, would be.... Depending on your hardware, either upgrade to Windows 2000 or "downgrade" to Windows 98SE. Windows 2000 would be the easier of the two, as it would just install over the top of ME. Win 98 could be installed over the top of ME, if you remove the "win.com" file first, but it would be better to wipe the drive and start over with a clean install.
