Who overcomes by force hath overcome but half his foe. 4. It's a poor sort of memory that only works backwards. 5. 5. If you can, find a copy of 'The Annotated Alice' by Martin Gardner |
|
It's out of print now, I believe, but it's an EXCELLENT explanation of the context, in-jokes, backstory etc of the Alice books, rendered as footnotes along with the text. My copy is so worn out I'm trying to replace it but I haven't seen a new copy lately.

I lost it in a fire with about 100 other books. My dad is good at finding rare books though. He probably has a copy, actually.
My dad collects books and movies and movie memorabilia. He recently gave away about 1500 books to a friend who opened a used book store, and you can't even tell they are missing from my dad's apartment. It didn't even make a dent.
