Someone I know is missing

I did a radio piece on Oaxaca, Mexico and its indigenous people's struggle. For it, I interviewed this amazing 21-year-old girl who came to Canada to try to bring attention to the issue, her ticket was paid for by a Canadian she helped while he was in prison. She was such an inspirational person and so gentle and wise. She had elements of Gandhi in her. THe girl grew up poor and still came out of it all fighting to end oppression of her people at such a young age. My contact for her called me today... turns out she's been missing for two months and was last seen heading to Mexican authorities in Oaxaca. My contact thinks she's been killed or is being held. BUt no one knows where she is.

I snapped this on the steps of the Vancouver Library the day I interviewed her... the clothes she has were bought brand new by people in her village because they wanted her to look sharp when up here on their behalf.
