Question Re: Hospital Insurance Crap |

is it true that if you sign yourself out of the hospital against your doctor's wishes the insurance won't cover your stay???
(that's what a doctor just said) and i'm just wondering...

1. I don't know the answer to that but I definitely wouldn't take the doctor's word on it |
|
I wish I could help you with an answer but my gut reaction is the doctor is probably just being a dick. If you do find a conclusive answer I hope you will post it.

i called the insurance company and they said they were really busy and would get back to me tomorrow or friday (i told them forget it--too late)
the doctor decided to sign a release. happy ending.

5. If a person was in there for alcohol-related reasons |
|
I could see a rule like that, as many people in that situation will leave as soon as they are physically capable, and yet may end up in there again for the very same reason. That is just an example, though, it wouldn't have to be alcohol-related for a doctor to consider a patient not stable or ready to leave the hospital.
