President Clinton showed up at my caucus
I must say that most of the people at my caucus were pleasently surprised when President Clinton showed up to campaign for his wife.. He stayed for about 15 minutes shaking hands, posing for photographs and signing autograph's.. It was a very good time and I was very surprised to see him..

He looked as though he could run for president again himself..

3. Hmmm....
interesting

personally I think the caucuses are a menace

of course I am torked mostly because by the time primaries get to my state, the candidates are already chosen.

I am not sure that Iowans are any more representative of the democratic party than Arkansans would be.

Not sure what the answer is, but I don't see the caucus as anything resembling democracy.

More like vote brokering,

4. A purer form of democracy I believe
The caucuses are probably a truer form of partipatory democracy because you actually particapate in the process instead of just pulling a lever in a both.. You actually mingle with other democratic party members and shake a few hands.. I volunteered to a delegate for Edwards to the county level.. It doesn't get any better than that..

5. each has their own opinion
I see it as a fall back to the smoke filled room days of party bosses etc.

not that the primary system is necessarily the answer either

Some kind of compromise where more participants are involved.

Why does Iowa turn the election for some candidates?

Because it has always.

That should change in my opinion

6. I agree with that.
In a caucus you're an active participant.
