So...I am no longer debt-free. Ah, well. |
|
Bought a car today. An 03, USA brand (yes, I KNOW, but I already have one Honda, and I wanted something newer than 2001 that I could actually pay OFF in four years!) four door, one owner never wrecked etc. etc. (carfaxed, of course)
The big news is that my husband and I actually qualified for a loan that was not from one of those crappy buy here pay here places - this is going to report to the credit bureaus for both of us, every month, and the payment is drafted, so impossible to miss unless the money is not there. This is great, considering we both work/have worked in an industry that is close to impossible to prove income from in any sort of regular way. And..we both have moderately bad credit. The loan also comes with a warranty on the car and !!!!GAP insurance!!!; so I feel a lot better about it. It's just been since I was 17 that I have had a car payment, and husband has never had one at all. No credit cards, no mortgage, no loans of almost any sort.
Paying $250.00 a month.
Had to have the car, since the other one is a two-seater and I have a four-year old. I am tired of having clunker cars (since the wreck in early '05; and had only had that nice car for two years..sigh).
Wish us luck, as we venture into the land of loans...*crosses fingers*.

I think I understand where you're at financial wise and it's a vulnerable scary position to be. Is it just me or does the whole world seem more fragile than it did before W took over the country and left it in smoking ruins? What brings me coming back here to DU is the hope that we can make a difference. That we can get the goddamned bootstraps to pull ourselves out of this shit hole and get back the American dream they've pounded in our heads since we were tots. I'm way drunk and way sentimental and way scared for the future but there's a spark of hope that won't die. A spark of hope that we will make a change and life will be better. If I lose that hope I don't know how I can go on. Rock on lildreamer and hold the faith.

No more worrying about whether or not you or hubby is going to make it all the way to/from work in the middle of the night.

Oh, you are so right.
On edit: BTW, you are still god. That Clenis comment is going in my top 10 of all time. Giggle every time I think about it.

Both are fairly exciting, if a bit nerve-wracking. Now the insurance is about to whack us upside the head, so if I can get past that expense, we are well on our way. Whew. backatcha.

LOL. I was very pleasantly suprised. Sure, we are paying a damn high interest rate, but were assured that if our credit gets over 700, we should be able to refinance at a lower rate with my credit union. It's just the price you pay for re-establishing, I guess. :hi:
