I'm kinda worried about skygazer and shine
Not only do they not have any capital letters, there've been wind gusts of 92 mph recorded in sky's neck o' the woods, and shine's stomp is locally well-known as a Nasty Place to Be in a Storm Like This.

Please to vector your Teh Longue Vibe-O-Tronic Phaser Units toward Kollyforniya's Central Coast. 'Tis fugly out there. :scared:

2. We're OK, but damn, this storm is intense!!!
According to our rain guage, in less than 24 hrs we've gotten 5 inches of rain!! :wow:

Plus, the winds are unbelievable right now. We're getting gusts up to 60mph, at least.

Our next door neighbor's fence was blown over and there's tree debris from our 75 ft eucalyptus all over the street.

Yup, it's pretty exciting 'round here, but the family is cozy and safe by the fire. Kids are still on winter break til Monday and MrShine is working from home today. I'm so glad he decided NOT to try driving over Hwy 17 on a day like this.

It's definitely the worst storm we've had up here in 2+ yrs. I'm lovin' it! :bounce: :D

Thanks for thinking of us, Oedie! Has anyone heard from skygazer? She's in the Los Gatos area...

:hi:

6. They just had a special emergency broadcast on the radio
telling us that there are flash flood warnings in effect for our entire area for the next 4 hrs.

In the meantime, I just checked the rain gauge again and we've gotten yet another inch of rain in the past 3 hrs, with more heavy rain happening as I type.

That's almost 6 inches of rain in about 27 hrs!

Damn, at the rate we're going, we could easily hit 10+ inches of rain by the time the weekend is done.

:hi: Thanks for the good vibes, sweetie. Happy New Year to you, too!

27. Hi Shine!!!
Edited on Fri Jan-04-08 04:49 PM by puerco-bellies
Sorry I did not get to have coffee with you last month. I popped my shoulder on the very first wave I caught. I waited around at a cafe for a hour or so and it seemed like I really injured myself. Seeing as my surf trip was moot I gassed up the van and headed home that Monday.

7. It was Los Gatos where the 92 mph gusts were reported
per KPIX. That's when I went, "OMD! Sky!" :scared:

They were also talking about the San Lorenzo River area, and I flashed back to the flood of... crap, '84?... and thought of you. More :scared:

We don't get so much of it, being a bit inland. Still, I'm surprised we haven't lost power and that my teevee antenna's still standing. But apparently the worst of it has blown through.

14. Shine!
Your area and Marin are seeing the highest totals. SFGate chart has Ben Lomond at over 7.5 inches already.

This is a wild one even over here in the East Bay. It's trash day and the full buckets are getting knocked over by the wind. The empty ones are being pushed down the street.

Stay warm and dry. :pals:

16. Trash day here, too
And, o' course, the idjits left my containers with the lids open. x(

Maybe they were thinking if they were filled with water they'd be less likely to go scamperin' down the street.

I donned my rain gear and poured out the water, then dragged 'em leeward. That was my Big Adventure for the day.

22. Our neighbor's OTHER fence just blew over!
they're gonna be bummed. That's the second fence today they've had blow over just since this morning.
They're flying back from FL tomorrow night. Welcome home.

Yeah, I'm sure we're over 7+ inches o' rain here, already. We'll probably hit 10+ by the time the w/e is over. It's still coming down torrentially, as I type this....plus the winds are outrageous!

It's amazing we haven't lost power yet. We've had flickers, but that's about it. Knock on wood.... :D

:hi:  Happy New Year, gf! :pals:

24. I'm in the Santa Cruz mountains, in Scotts Valley
I'm pretty sure Philo is up near Mendocino, which is about 4+ hrs north of us. The whole northern and central part of the state is being slammed by this one right now, so you might want to check in on her.

10. Right now the storm is hitting northern California
but the system is heading down here (SoCal) probably late this afternoon. I guess the canyon and mountain areas are going to be hit with the nasty winds, we will have some wind with about 4-5 inches of rain through the weekend.

We are in a "bowl" so other than flash floods, we will be safe. (I think we are safe from the water coming in the house here...as we are at a higher elevation than the street.)

12. Kitchy won't get it until sometime tonight
And it might lose a bit of strength by then.

We're getting a lot of wind and rain where I am, but nothing like the San Francisco Peninsula and North Bay.
