My best friend has Peripheral Vestibular Disease

Poor 14 year old Sneezer! He didn't want to eat, and we saw him shiver. His eyes were twitching around, and he was leaning to the Left. Had to carry him and hold him all the way to the vet. All he could do was sort of limp and circle to the left!

The Vet says this sort of thing is an inflamation, and I looked it up; he should be good in a few days.

This sort of thing is a reminder to cherish our companions, furred or not, as they will not always be with us, or us with them.

2. THANKS!
14 years is a long time to spend every single day together, with very few exceptions.

D and I missed him terribly on Monday night. He's the only one who consistently gets to sleep on the bed.

3. Awwww, he's so cute I just want to hug him
. We took our old dog Ranger to the Emergency Vet in the middle of the night with the same symptoms....it was really scary, but he was okay in a day or two and it didn't happen again.

6. Shoot, I look at it the other way around!
He's a light and airy spirit, and his presence makes our lives sweeter. If he feels good to be with us, then we are luckier still.

Truly a higher creature of light.

9. You should feel what it's like when he locks eyes with you, and smiles.
Careful when you give him a treat, though. Hold it in your palm or he might catch you with those incisors.

Quick on the draw!

13. He'd let you.
He's a cuddler.

When he was young, he could run so FAST. He's deaf now, but he always came to the whistle, happy and smiley. We hope he lives past the summer...we want him to have just a couple more days in the warm sand on the beach: his favorite place.

14. My 14-yr old, Bingo, had the same thing last year. It was horrible to see her eyes going back
and forth (nystagmus) and imagine how dizzy and disoriented that made her feel. Exactly like your pooch -
head tilting, turning in circles, etc.

With Bingo, though, it did not improve in the few days they predicted. Fortunately, there was a surgery they could do
(called a bulla osteotomy) and, even though the anesthesia alone was a risk at her age, we decided to go ahead
with it because her quality of life was being severely compromised.

Happy Ending: Here it is, a year later, and Bingo's still happy to be alive. Good appetite, steady weight,
great disposition!! We feel really lucky (and so do our other 3 dogs, who love her, too).

Good luck with your Sneezer!! She's lucky to have a friend who loves her as much as you do!!

17. In my previous post, I should have added the word "dog" after mentioning "my 14-year old."
(Don't want anyone to think I named a kid of mine "Bingo.")

18. Our little l3 year old whippet recently recovered
from the same problem. Took a while for her to regain complete
balance though. Hope Sneezer feels better soon. z
