I said goodbye to my 15 year old dog this morning
Not the final goodbye. He's going to be staying at a spa for a week while I am going on a business trip for a job. He's been there twice before, but I haven't left him anywhere for a couple of years so it kind of tears my heart. But he'll probably have a better week than I will.

1. Aw. He'll be okay!
My Labrador loves doing things like that, as she gets to play with the other dogs (and eat)!

3. They even have music and television
But he's mostly deaf and doesn't see too well. What he does like is all the young girls they have on staff who fuss over him. He's a ladies dog.

4. This place treats the dogs so well that they aren't
mad at you for three days when you pick them up. They are happy to see you, but you know they've also had a good time.

7. What if it's so much fun he doesn't want to go back home?

5. I just returned from several weeks in Colorado and my cats...
...were cared for by a couple of my students. They were in great hands but I worried constantly while I was gone. I know exactly how you feel. Have a good trip. You will REALLY feel good when you get back and retrieve your dog!

9. No, but he has his own dog bed
so he has something familiar, and he's been there twice before. He sort of brightened up when we walked in the place and we didn't make a big deal about the goodbye. He'll get more walks and massages there then he does at home, so he should feel loved even if its not me. This lady has got a great business going.

around the world who don't have a beautiful place to live at ANY time in their lives.

This place sounds luxurious beyond imagination.

Have a good trip!

11. Thanks, I hear what you're saying.
This is a "spa". I've never even been to a spa.

But this was a stray dog who survived the dog pound on the south side of Chicago, made it through cancer (he's an 8 year cancer survivor and the treatment they used is now used to cure cancer in humans), and survived 2 emergency surgeries for bloat. He's won the doggie lottery about 10 times.

So he's got good karma and dogma. He's a lucky guy.

Our beloved Cocker Spaniel got crushed by a CAR-ma when she was only four years old.

I wish Spicy had lived to fifteen, but she would be gone by now, since she passed in 1988.

Peace,

Radio Lady in Oregon

13. I know it's hard to leave 'em, but the beagle actually likes to go to
"camp". I think she likes being able to decide when she goes out, rather than waiting for me to walk her. And she enjoys other dogs, always has. She's always glad to see me when I pick her up. But when I leave her, she's always happy to get out of the car and see that she's at "camp".

And where the beagle goes isn't as nice as the place you're taking your dog!! I'm sure he'll be fine!
