Oh, this is just ABSOLUTELY ridiculous.
So there's a show on the SciFi Channel about some group of Ghost Investigators who go into a supposedly haunted 15th-century monastery in Italy, and all kinds of spooky things happen to them; strange voices and so on.

But those "voices" spoke to them in ENGLISH, in response to the "team" asking the ghosts to "give us some sign that you're here" in ENGLISH.

What, do you get a free Berlitz course in English when you die in 15th-century Italy and become a ghost?

9. The answer is obvious.
Edited on Thu Jan-17-08 12:46 AM by Kutjara
The ghosts who were speaking were those of dead translators brought in by the 15th Century Italian ghosts to help them communicate with the ghost hunters.

I bet you feel pretty silly now.

12. Boy, am I dumb. I should have known that the TV show would have sent advance people,
to make sure the ghosts would understand they needed the translators if they were going to have the chance to be on American TV.

14. Well duh.
I mean, the only alternative is that the whole thing is a crock of superstitious shit, and we just know that isn't the case.

15. If they died in the 15th century, they've been in heaven for 500+ year
Everyone knows god speaks english (it's the official language of the bible, after all), so of course the ghosts would have picked up enough to get by. Don't you know anything about science?

18. So you're saying there weren't any English-speaking people in Italy in the 15th century?
Edited on Thu Jan-17-08 03:22 AM by Fox Mulder
Maybe the person who died could speak Italian and English.

Imagine if someone did a ghost hunt here in Minnesota in a hundred years. A ghost responds to them in Spanish. Are we going to say that it's fake because the ghost should be speaking English?

19. Didn't you know that GOD speaks English?
That's why the Bible is in English. And everybody spoke English until the Tower of Babel, when God confused them all and made them speak funny foreign languages. But when you die and go to Heaven, you speak English again. Unless you go to Hell, and then you speak Mexican or something.

I hope I really didn't need to add the :sarcasm: tag here.

20. And why are all ghosts wearing clothes?

Penn and Teller brought this up once on their show.

When you die and become a ghost, how do you have "ghost clothes"?
