Guys, do you carry a pocket knife? What type?

and I had to open boxes and stuff. Also I didn't have a car and I often had to walk home at 2 in the morning. :P

It's a rather indescribable knife... it's basically shaped almost like a little pistol, complete with a finger-hole. The blade is where the barrel would be in a gun. Not foldable, just one solid piece of metal. It was cheap, and all I needed was something strong enough to cut through packing tape.

Then I got a car and got a job at a warehouse where I wasn't allowed to open boxes, so I had no need to carry it anymore. I've still got it around somewhere, but I haven't put it in my pocket in at least 3 years now.

11. I used mine when I was a rural route carrier. They had cutters there but

they had a bad habit of breaking at inopportune times. I would have a bundle of newspapers in the back seat of my car. I could reach around and cut the binders with a knife, but not with the plastic cutters.

24. The Gerber is very hard. It holds it edge well. My dad was an

auto upholsterer. He would wear out a knife blade. He'd wear them down to a spike. He wore his sharpening stone down too.

Used to carry a Benchmade Balisong in a quickdraw holster. When I travel I have a small scrimshaw handled knife I put in my shaving kit.

Maybe a 2 or 2.5 inch blade, seems like good steel, holds an edge for quite a while.

Then I have another, no-name knife on my key-ring, 1 inch blade, also handy.

I just have to remember to put them in checked baggage when I fly.

I had an old rusty one with a broken blade and returned it to Sears. Their guarantee is golden and they happily replaced it with a new one. I think my model is the last one made from high grade carbon steel instead of one of the new stainless alloy knives; it takes and holds a keen an edge very well.

ten miles a day on my mail route (went from rural to city carrier), a heavy knife would have rubbed me raw. A single blade knife with a synthetic handle was better for my needs.
