My depression rears it's ugly head again!
Tough day today sports fans. Found out my ex is now married. Don't know whay that bothers me but it really threw me for a loop.

My brother is leaving for Montana tommorow. That sucks, he was my support sytem and now that is gone for good.

Dad is back in the hospital and has been in and out for the past month or so. Doc's say he has less than 20% of his heart functioning and is not a candidate for surgery. So it going to be soon that I ahve to deal with whaever can of worms he leaves the family to deal with.

I have no one close enough to me to trouble with all of this and it is like all building up inside me.

5. What meds are you taking?
I stopped Zoloft about a year ago, I don't think it really helped at all. Sometimes I am okay, but then times like this I sure wish I had something....

7. Does it work for you? Did the others?
Do they take weeks to take effect? Side effects?

8. Benny....
I am sorry these things have happened in your life, and I am especially sorry that they hit you all at once like this.

Even though your brother is leaving, I hope it is possible for you to draw upon his support, even if it is only verbal encouragement over the telephone.

It is a terrible thing for people our age...we are at a good and wise time of our lives, but being this age almost always means that we have many issues to deal with concerning the health of our parents. I am right there with you in that regard Benny, and I can understand exactly how you are feeling.

The important thing to remember is this...you need to take extra care of yourself when there is no one around to help us. Do not overlook your own needs when caring for your dad.

Do the best you can, and make a concerted effort not to overwhelm yourself.

If your depression worsens, please try to nip it in the bud. Meds really can help.

Tell yourself to try to "roll" with these things that are happening to you. I know it may sound strange, but if you try to put yourself at peace, and don't "fight" things, you might find that you are better able to cope.

Here's hoping that things look a little better tomorrow Benny my friend.

10. A black cloud is a great way of describing it...
Please let me give you some more thoughts.

1) We tend to feel very alone at times like this. We also tend to feel that no one can possibly understand how bad we are feeling. Rest assured, there are people that love you, and also be assured that there are literally millions of people right now that are feeling like you are.

2) I know your passion for the music that we both love. I know what you "hear" in the music, that many people don't hear. That "hearing" is a gift Benny. Use this gift to help you through a rough patch like the one you are having now.

3) Depression magnifies bad things into worse things. It distorts thoughts and feelings. Remember that much of the bad feelings you are having are simply due to this magnification.

4) Do not be afraid to go to the doctor and tell him how you are feeling. Your doctor can help you. You can get some fast acting meds to temporarily take the edge off, and you can also get some anti-depressants that will help you longer term.

You seem like a really good guy Benny, and I don't want you to suffer. Please take care of yourself.

11. after reading the other depressed threads today and the other day
(some after Heath Ledger died), hope you're doing better. Family can be very hard, both support and bring you down.

Take care. The days are getting longer - sunshine always helps me so I'm enjoying that.

13. Try to find some kind of support group. You'll be needing some people to turn to.
Maybe a religious congregation, or at least a clergyperson. Maybe a counselor, though you may need more support than curing (I'm suspicious of therapists, so feel free to ignore my bias), or something like Emotions Anonymous or Recovery, Inc. Just people you can share with, vent with, cry with.

And then, there's always the Lounge. Good listeners here, and lots of support. I know I'm thinking of you and wishing you the best. I've been in situations where life suddenly began to suck with no support network (my mom was Dx'd with a brain tumor three days after I moved here. Didn't really know a soul here and needed a shoulder to cry on. Really. BTDT),so I have some idea how it feels. So, please know that me and other Loungers are here to help if you need us. I'm so sorry life is shitty for you.
