A pharmaceutical consulting company has contacted me.... |
|
They are asking me for my opinions on who will be leaders in the area of Cystic Fibrosis research and if I want to be invited to participate in clinical trials and give presentations.
I'm not sure what to say. I'm not a doctor and they apparently think that I am. I know that if I tell them I'm just a person who studied the disease for a long time and educated myself enough to figure it out, they won't take me seriously.
Any suggestions?

1. Is it something you would like to do? |
|
If so, I say go for it. Did they ever ask you if you are a doctor? If they didn't, and they're just assuming that you are, thats their problem. You're not misrepresenting yourself.

2. I would like to contribute, of course. |

But they are asking for my CV. I have no CV that includes much of a background in research. I just DO the research and then I publish. Since I last published, there has been a LOT of work published along the same lines, that supports my model of the disease. I suppose I could give them these people's names, but I own the patent on the drug.

3. Do it (if you want to) |
|
That's the beauty of science. Anyone can do it - it just takes an hypothesis that is confirmed through research. Your hypothesis needs to be explained to the medical community with falsifiable evidence. If it is further confirmed, it may become a working theory.

In this field, degree doesn't matter so much as EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE which it sounds like you have plenty of. I have only a BS degree with plenty of experience but often I am doing Master's level work and occasionally phD level work. I say at least submit some kind of CV. The worst they can say is No, Thank you. And given that they contacted you, I think that unlikely. Good luck. Keep us posted. I would be very interested to hear what happens!!:hi:
