HELP! I need a site with TASTEFUL nudes for illustration reference

I'm working on a series of full color illustrations which feature scantily clad beautiful women and I don't have the time to hire and photograph my own models. I've been searching the web for non-porn nude photos where the women are lovely, nicely posed, the lighting is good, etc. The closest thing I've found so far is a site called "femjoy", but only about 30% of those photos are tasteful and well posed-the rest are pretty gynecological and I can't stomach wading through any more of them to find the poses I need. The art nudes sites out there are so artsy that the photos are of little value as basic anatomy reference. Does anyone know of such a site?

my BFA is in Illustration-but I never had the stomach to study cadavers. Anorexic life drawing models were bad enough! I ended up working for Disney Feature Animation for a while years ago, and now I freelance for the Mouse and other giant megacorps. Gotta get out of that, though-too many hungry artists under bidding me these days!

I taught at a local university for a while too. That's a wonderful line of work. Your dad is lucky; since he doesn't have to do art to survive he can still enjoy it!

the leg from one, the face from another, etc. I almost never use an exact pose from a photo; there's always something that can be done to make it more dramatic or interesting.

of course it's one that has a fee attached, like most of them. I like the models and the lighting, but most of the sample images are extremely static. Do you happen to know if the site has any really dynamic photos; action, nice twists to the body, dance-like poses, etc?

Hell, it's been so long since I even looked at it that I had to google "tasteful nude" to remember the name. :shrug:

The only photos I can think of that fit that bill were in Playboy many years ago — a spread on dancer-actress Paula Kelly.

Oh — you might try www.leonardnimoyphotography.com. I haven't looked at that one in a long time, either, but he had some interesting stuff there in the past.

Of course, in using his photos you risk a Vulcan neck pinch. :)

even a CD of swimsuit models would probably be good to have on hand. About all I have in my own library is an old SI swimsuit issue, a couple of anatomy and "drawing the figure" books, and a book of Laetitia Casta photos (not the best print quality, though-but she's very classically proportioned).

We've found a couple of antique soft-cover books that were collections of "artist model" poses, according to the book jackets. These were semi-nude and nude women in various poses and natural environments. I'd offer to scan and send, but I have no idea where they are right now - we moved this year, and you can imagine how unpacked we are not.

I spent several afternoons searching online from some tasteful yet professional and dynamic nude poses-and GEEZ, did I ever have to wade through a whole lotta beaver shots to find anything useful! I'm quite hetero and that many crotch shots had me feeling like I spent a day as an OB/GTN's assistant. Ew! Anyway, I thought "I'll just ask the guys on DU-surely someone can help to spare me from so much of this"! I'm no prude, but that much of the same thing gets a little icky for a straight feminist after a while.
