Why does CNN describe the space shuttle launch as "Breaking News"?
Edited on Thu Feb-07-08 02:58 PM by MrCoffee
Did NASA just decide this morning to launch Atlantis? "Eh, screw it, let's launch a space shuttle today! No one will ever suspect it!"

Was CNN somehow surprised to find out about it?

What the gravy? It's listed as "Breaking News" on MSNBC's homepage. IT'S NOT BREAKING IF IT'S BEEN SCHEDULED FOR MONTHS!!!!

5. There were weather difficulties
This morning they said there was only a 30% chance of the shuttle going off today.

8. "weather difficulties" = "we doubt the astronauts will be sober enough to fly this thing"
the black coffee and a cold shower trick worked, though.

10. We interrupt this regularly scheduled broadcast to tell you that
the space shuttle did exactly what it was supposed to do exactly when we told you it would months ago.

The stunned nation holds it's breath to see if the sun will rise in the east tomorrow. Film at 11.

21. Thanks Wolf...Did you know that 7 out of every 10 commuters
said that they wouldn't get into a car that was already on fire? Safety tip # 1: Don't get into burning vehicles. That goes for buses and trains, too, Wolf.

Wolf: I'm sorry, Shed, did you say not to get into a flaming vehicle?

Shed: That's right, Wolf. If the car/bus/train is already on fire, do not enter.

Wolf: Good tip, Shed. Thanks for that insightful report.
