thank GOD that (the ACT) is over! |
|
i think i did good on the english, reading, and science sections. the math i'm not sure about. i was sure with about half of my answers, fairly certain with a fourth, and a fourth i either had to make my best guess or else didn't have enough time and had to fill in bubbles... i had to just fill in the last 10 because i was running out of time. i did find the math section easier than i thought it was going to be though.
now comes the worst part.. waiting for my results. i'm going to be sick for the 2 - 3 weeks it takes for my scores to come back. :(

2. If you're not happy with your score, just redo it. |
|
You only need to submit your best score, unless they changed things since I was in school (which is possible, 'cause that was a Brazilian years ago.)
No sense getting stressed out about it. You're a smart girl, you've got loads of interesting accomplishments to point to, I'm sure you'll get letters of rec from all sorts of interesting people, and you're going to have your pick of good schools.

7. If you are anything like I imagine from reading your posts here |
|
I am certain you will do just fine. You are a very intelligent and articulate person.
I did reasonably well on my ACT, but the funny part is that I did the best on the science section. The funny part was I had finished about half of it when they called time, and I just quickly filled in spots in the rest of the section so there would be some answers there. And that was my best section. I should have guessed on the rest of it too.

8. I'm sure you did well...but I have a question |
|
Why the ACT's and not the SAT's? Its been a few years since I've been in college of course, but I thought most places preferred the SAT's.....

10. Lately most will take either. |
|
CA public colleges want at least 2 SAT-2 subject tests as well, or at least they did way back when I rode a dinosaur to graduation, but they'll still mix and match and do an ACT and then SAT-2 subject tests.
The advantage of the ACT for many students, at least back then, was that the math section carries less weight than it does in the SAT.

12. I'm quite thankful to the high school counselor who gave me that tip. |

IIRC, the SAT is 50% Verbal, 50% Math, and the ACT is 2/3 Verbal. Since I had college-level English skills and probably shouldn't have passed any math class after Algebra, emphasizing English was a much better reflection of my abilities and more accurately assessed the skills I needed for my major anyhow.
