I remember the DAY my grandmother ordered that.

The day it arrived in the mail was so cool. She took such care of it.

She had that for years in several homes she lived in. YEARS ago long before she died (2000), she told my mom that I should have it. She knew what a democrat and how much I love the Kennedy's.

It survived MY moves as well. Every time I moved, I took that plate with me personally. No movers, no boxes ... nothing. It came via subways, trains, cars ... you name it.

I will always treasure that.

My mom told me that she took my grandmother (Nanny) to the hair dresser and then we went to see my grandfather (Pa-Pa) at work. He owned a gas station. My gradparents were divorced. While we were seeing Pa-Pa the news came over the radio.

I have some memory of just having the TV on for the next days.

you have lots of room... you can't see the size of the house from the front. but after I saw the inside I went back and could see that the house goes on forever down the side!

also, who is the spotless housekeeper? would that person come to my house for a month? I'll pay. or trade some with books... It will take a month, no joke, to deal with my messes. but I'm worth it.

btw, do you or someone else know how to get orange soda out of a rug? my son spilled this on the rug and I can't find anyone around here who will take rugs to clean (like a dry cleaner) It's not a big rug, something like 4x8, or whatever the standard for around that size might be. surely there must be some kind of old home remedy or something that has actually worked.

not that you can use the info, but others who are under piles of snow can clean rugs by taking them out in the snow and turning them upside down. haven't gotten that far myself, but I do play a mean game of racketball when the smaller ones are hanging off the back porch.
