1. Eleanor rigby died in the church and was buried along with her name
Nobody came
Father mckenzie wiping the dirt from his hands as he walks from the grave
No one was saved

6. I named my daughter Eleanor. She thinks it's funny when people call her ...
"Eleanor Rigby".

I think its creepy....I didn't think about that when
I named her....

"She's my pride and joy etcetera!" ...was more like what I was thinking.

7. I love that name.
I think of the "Eleanor, gee I think your swell" when I think of a pretty girl. When I feel sad or lonely I sing Eleanor Rigby in my head over & Over but I don't equate one with the other. It is funny how songs stay with you forever.

10. I immediately think of Eleanor of Aquitaine
One of the most bitchin' women in history, but then again I am a history dork like that (degree in history).

:)

8. Were Eleanor Rigby and Father McKenzie Having An Affair
Or, was it a case of unrequited (sp?) love?

17. I think it's a story of alienation set in the context of parish life that is carried out...
in a hollow fashion.

What we have is an old lonely church-lady, a priest who busts his ass writing sermons nobody listens to, nobody giving a shit about her death, and nobody being saved.

9. what was more shocking is that the Beatles had a hit...
...with a song that was only a dreary Paul MCcartney vocal and a very dreary string section backing him.
the Beatles could do no wrong about that time.....that was incredible, now that i think about it. Did anybody else come close?

11. What?
Revolver is one of greatest albums ever recorded and Eleanor Rigby is one of McCartney's best songs.

If you're talking about dreary, listen to Oasis.

13. Concur. Revolver's hugely underrated...
due to the popularity of Sgt. Pepper, The White Album, etc.

Revolver and Rubber Soul don't get enough cred.
