5. I believe it is from "Pet Sematary"
I was already in my 30's when I saw it and I found the scene scary and disturbing.

21. That's fine
I'm seriously trying to understand why someone would want to be "disturbed". I mean, Stephen King's stuff is disturbing.

28. Some people like to be disturbed and freaked out.
That's why horror movies are so popular. :)

30. There is a certain adrenaline that comes with being scared
It's a way of getting the rush of the 'fight or flight' instinct, but without being in any real danger.

4. Hey, I was 1 and a half when Clintons were inaugurated, and 9 and a half with Coronation I of GWB.
My entire youth was set to the background of the Clintons. I like Hillary well enough, but I'm sure some RW kids, at least, of the same age had nightmares.

11. Because I was a big Stephen King fan
and then his books/movies just started scaring the crap out of me. Thanks to IT I'm still scared of clowns and (somewhat) spiders!

Now, books like Eye of the Dragon or Hearts over Atlantis, those I like.

17. Stephen King isn't all horror.
"The Green Mile" and "Shawshank Redemption" are also his works.

He is definitely an odd, eccentric type of guy. But I guess you have to be to come up with some of the stories he comes up with.

The little boy at the end was both adorable and freaky. "No fair!" after his Dad gives him the shot in the neck.

23. Never saw the movie but the book was creepy as hell!
Edited on Sat Feb-23-08 03:22 PM by davsand
Even the CAT was creepy.

King manages to creep me out with ordinarily things, and that is one reason I have always enjoyed him. I was reading some other King novel about a year ago that had a plot line revolving around cell phones. While I was reading it my cell phone rang and I was not at all sure I wanted to answer it.

An even better example, however, is when I was reading The Stand and everyone in the book was dying off with this super flu bug (the first third of the novel, btw!) Anyhow, this flu bug started out with cold type symptoms but just got worse and worse until it killed the victim. King went into detail about how it spread by incidental contact between people (like on paper money or just talking to a sick person.)

As I was reading that part of the book, I was at the grocery store in the checkout lane and some woman turned around and SNEEZED on me. I just about ran out of the store screaming.

I read it in HS, it was a great book. IT is one that gives me the creeps more than anything.

I too liked Cell, I read that on summer vacation a couple years ago.
