1. My dear pri!
It most likely does work...

But it's a gimmick...

Something you could do on your own, for less money...

I see it as something that would probably break down pretty easily...

I know it looks tempting!

They always look good...

I'd avoid it, myself...

Sorry to rain on your parade, sweetie...

8. I have killed cacti too!
Any plant living in my house has to be damn near indestructible!

They have to thrive on neglect...

Thanks, sweetie...

3. No offense, but it looks like something you'll be able to pick
up at nearly every garage sale this summer.

7. If you're going to get something goofy like that, get a chia pet.
I think there's an herbal garden variety.
About 19.99 at CVS.

13. I like that it's hydroponic (sp?)
I saw one of those in the Linens & Things catalog and I admit that I thought it was awesome too. I love the idea of being able to grow salad greens all year long and know that they haven't been treated with a million chemicals. It is spendy though and others are probably right, maybe it's one of those things to keep an eye open for on Craig's List.

14. one of the local kitchen stores had one on display
Everything in it was growing very nicely but I don't know how much work the staff had to put into it to make it look as nice as it did. I had to touch the herbs to make sure it wasn't a fake display.

17. I suspect that over 90% of the buyers
Are not going to try to grow tomatoes in that!

$170 would buy me a ton of tomatoes at the farmer's market. Since I also have the proverbial brown thumb - hell, I've killed silk plants - I think I'll pass.
