Jamie Lynn Spears Passes GED
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/sfgate/detail?blogid=7&entry_id=24531
Teen star Jamie Lynn Spears has found something to smile about after her pregnancy controversy -- she has picked up a General Educational Development diploma with high marks for reading comprehension.

The 16-year-old actress sister of Britney Spears is now considering her college options, according to reports.
<snip>
Well Mullet the III will have a better chance at being able to read past a third grade level than his cousins do.

1. Just how many college options does a knocked up 16 year old with a GED have?
Beauty, Community, Clown, Technical, am I missing one?

4. Hey, once you transfer, the diploma looks the same.
Once her sister parties herself to death and the 'rents blow through the remaining profits, my money's on beauty school.

12. Well I heard on one of those entertainment news shows
Thats he wants to attend LSU. So its a good thing she is loaded, thats all I'm going to say. I can hear the press release now:

LSU wants to help improve the image of teen parents and provide a good role model for them so we congratulate Jamie Lynn Spears and welcome her to the class of 20xx.

It almost writes itself.

17. Is she really any less worthy to attend LSU than...
some meathead football player who is there for sports only? It sucks that she would get favoritism on admissions over some non-famous deserving student but if she can actually earn a degree on her own merits, it's more than can be said for some stud D-I football/basketball players.

18. Worthy would not be a word I would use
However I see your point, and I agree the favoritism inherent in the collegiate system is not fair or just. However I would also give you my opinion that Jamie Lynn Spears is probably not going to earn a degree on her own merits. No I don't know her, never met her, etc etc. However seeing the family drama in action on TV every night, well, I would say the odds of anyone in that family making it through college is slim. God bless them is they do and make my opinion wrong, but have you heard any of them speak candidly? Coherence is not a family trait.

And at least I can enjoy watching the meatheads during football season. :P

24. Hey now MSSU has helped many single mothers get through.
They even have a day care on campus. With that 4 year degree, they have made more money and made it where the child is more likely to also go to college due to the example of how important it is given by the mother.

5. Good for her. I have a GED, too.
Edited on Wed Feb-27-08 12:36 PM by Akoto
Hasn't held me back one bit.

I dropped out of school due to health issues, and it was very rewarding for me to finally accomplish that. I'm now earning a vocational degree for the career I've always wanted to go into.

I learned a single thing in high school. And that was freshman year. The last three years? Nothing.

Like Paris Hilton for example.

I hope she does further her education. It is a step in the right direction.
