1. Or in most cases, how it DOESN'T really work...

3. I MUCH prefer caucuses to just walking into a voting booth and marking a ballot.
The local party org here doesn't make public their meetings, it's harer than hell to find out who your precinct committee person is, etc. It's all done behind closed doors by a bunch of local regulars who don't feel the need to include any newcomers.

If we had caucuses, all of that local party work would be done at the caucus. And they'd have to publicize it, and everyone and his brother would be there to participate.

Call me crazy, but I'm fond of participatory democracy.

4. I guess I shouldn't panic until I know for certain what it's like
They are calling it "The Texas Two-Step" now. It should be interesting, if nothing else. Maybe I should make up t-shirts that read, "I survived a Texas Two-Step Caucus!" lol

5. Well, I must admit I don't understand that. My experience is in Iowa.
And there, caucuses are local meetings of the party, and really amazing events. I wish we had 'em here in Illinois.
