Post your odd food combinations. |
|
For some reason tonight, I'm thinking that my usual big dinner salad would be REALLY awesome with freshly cooked, hot tater tots.
Seriously, tater tot salad? What a weird craving. Wonder if I'm pregnant...
What's odd that sounds good to you, regardless of if you've actually eaten it or not?

52. Have you ever had Tuno? |
|
We a very good vegetarian restaurant here, and they used to have real tuna on the menu (they also used to do eggs). Then they went "pure" and got rid the tuna and eggs.
Last time I was there, I wanted my regular tuna sandwich and tomato soup. I noticed the menu said "tuno". I thought it was a typo. I asked the waiter, and he said "No, it's not a typo." and explained what tuno was. I passed.
I got home and googled it and found some veggie boards where EVERYBODY said it was just vile. Evidently it's some soy protein mush flavored with seaweed or something. I'm glad I didn't try it.
I sure do miss my tuna sammich with tomato soup, though :(

my whole family loves Chik'n patties. They prefer them over the actual chicken patties (like there's any actual chicken in them...but I digress). They all say the Chik'n patties taste more like chicken than the "real" stuff.
Okay, question..are commercial BBQ sauces normally vegan? I'm not a vegan, but it always surprises me the stuff that contains animal products, like marshmallows...who knew?

32. ooh I just thought of another weird combo... |
|
I like grilled sauerkraut sandwiches on rye bread with swiss cheese. When I ate meat, reubens were my favorite, so I still make them...without the meat, and I like them better. My husband thinks it's ghastly, but even when I ate the traditional reuben, I piled those things with so much sauerkraut, you couldn't really taste the meat anyway, so my meat-free ones really aren't much different.

dipped in tomato soup is my real fav! I also used to eat them dipped in ketchup when I was a kid.
Tuna sammich and chips are good, too, but try those chips on a PB&J! Awesome!
Bacon or breakfast sausage on bread with grape or black raspberry jelly.
Chocolate and plain potato chips, Rolos and popcorn. Wendy's fries salted up and dipped in a Frosty.
:9
Re-edited to add: When I would go out to lunch with friends in Pittsburgh, they would order a salad that had strips of steak and french fries in it, so tater tots in a salad isn't so out there. :hi:

|
A can of chili (no beans), four chopped up hot dogs, a layer of b-b-q potato chips, followed off with a thick layer of shredded cheese. This should be routinely followed off with a root-beer float to enjoy the entire effect (which lasts much longer than meal itself).
I know what you're thinking as you throw your caloric-guilt to the winds... "Lantern-- this sounds too damn good to be real! Where can I order this fine, fine meal?" I'm right, huh? You know that's precisely what you're thinking (well, that and "where is the nearest bottle of Roll-Aids located?")!
Butt for some reason, all of the trendy, five-star eating establishments I've visited in an attempt to order this, 'Decadence Unleashed' is considered 'rather tacky' by the culinary-Nazi's...
