What are you doing right now?
I'm just sitting here typing, listening to that PBS 'Washington Shout Fest'
with all the rethugs and one lone Dem. woman who gets shouted over/talked
over all the time. It's sad, really. :eyes:

I'm enjoying a cocktail too. A Friday night :toast: to you all!

I had Chinese food leftovers for dinner. My son went crazy buying takeout last night.
It was pretty good! He bought way to much food though. He was feeling better.
He's had a cough and cold all week. He's had the last 3 days off and slept all day,
each day until today. But he took off for the night.

We're ready for the monsoon coming after midnight. All small objects were brought into the house.
I'll be covering my car with a tarp in a few hours. My hard top convertible leaks. :(

So, anyway, just thought I'd say hello and see what you are up to tonight. ;)

Edited on Fri Mar-07-08 07:56 PM by Breeze54
I did that a lot with Windows ME. It worked too. ;)

But I haven't tweaked XP at all. I haven't had any problems with it, that I know of...

I did uninstall Spy Blaster today and downloaded and installed the new version, 4.0

I feel safer now. :P

23. I've been using Firefox since before it was called Firefox, haha.
I remember when it was called Phoenix, and then Firebird. I have Opera, Internet Explorer and Safari installed too, which I use to test webpages when I'm doing design work.

The Wallpaper is a screencap from the film Videodrome, actually. It's Brian O'Blivion.

25. It was a tooth removal gone bad. The original plan was simple...
It got infected, into the jaw bone. But it's my fault for not asking for steroids with the antibiotics. I am on Clindamycin now. We'll see what happens. Good luck with your dental work.

I have a similar situation. One of my eye teeth lost it's cap and now, I think, it might
be infected. It hurts sometimes and I was told last time I saw a dentist, that it would
have to be removed by a surgeon. :( I'm sure I'll be on the antibiotics as well.

Hoping you feel better soon!!

That movie which I've been forced to watch with my son
at least 20 times, annoys the crap out of me now!!

Our local Hollywood Video is going out of business, so
my son's been buying up DVD's this week. He got some good one's.

60. Uhm, I can't say specifically except to say it is a
very unsuitable substitute for what I really want to be doing tonight. How do you channel horniness except by listening to Nirvana? God, I need some privacy for about 15 minutes so I can "channel" it better...I can't help myself.

68. I KNOW they lied.
If I could get my aunt to quit creeping around on her scooter, I would have had a really really good one earlier. I was right there then, I heard her scooter right in the kitchen and bye bye grand finale, ya know? I need a hotel room and some toys and well, that'd do. That's really all I need. If I could only have like 15 minutes without "interruptions." *sigh*

but that was years ago. *sigh* I barely remember any of it now.

Why is your family asleep so early? They must be very young.

80. You should check out "Old Town' while you're there!
Edited on Sat Mar-08-08 12:06 AM by Breeze54
Old Town (sometimes called Old Town Triangle) is a neighborhood in Chicago, Illinois, bounded by Armitage Avenue on the north, Division Street on the south, Larrabee Street on the west, and Clark Street on the east.<2> It sits inside the community areas of Lincoln Park and the Near North Side, and is part of Chicago's 43rd ward.

History of Old Town

Old Town is in the upper right portion of this map of Chicago from 1875. Note how 'Sedgwick' is misspelled 'Sedgewick'

German population density in the United States, 1872.

Early History

The land known as Old Town originally served as a home and trade center to many Nations including Potawatomi, Miami and Illinois.<3> Following the Treaty of Chicago in 1833, most of the indigenous people were forcibly removed, and the land was then settled in the 1850's by German-Catholic immigrants in the mid to late 19th century. Clark Street is a leftover of the culture, it being an old road which followed the high point next to Lake Michigan.

Old Town is today considered an affluent and historic neighborhood, home to many of Chicago's older, Victorian-era buildings. The neighborhood is also home to St. Michael's Church, originally a Bavarian-built church, and one of 7 to survive the path of the Great Chicago Fire<4>. Many of the streets and alleys, particularly in the Old Town Triangle section, predate the Great Chicago Fire and do not all adhere to a typical Chicago grid pattern.

In 1927, sculptors Sol Kogen and Edgar Miller purchased and subsequently rehabilited a house on Burton Place, near Wells Street, into the Carl Street Studios. Through the 1930s, an art colony emerged in the neighborhood as artists moved from the "Towertown" neighborhood near Washington Square Park.

Hippie Years

During the 1960s the neighborhood was the center of the yippie and hippie counter culture in the midwestern United States. This was mostly due to the fact that by the 1950s and 1960s many of the original families that had settled in the neighborhood had moved to the suburbs during white flight, leaving older, victorian buildings with storefronts available to rent for cheap. This dense storefront-laden area (Wells & North Ave.) became the nexus of hippie culture, (as well as the newly emerging out-homosexual culture) and gave rise to the boutiques (Crate and Barrel for example) in the neighborhood today. Seed Magazine was a literary staple of the neighborhood at the time.

“There is a little piece of Chicago Real Estate, west of Lincoln Park, that is the pride of urban conservationists and the despair of bulldozers. It is a community widely known as Old Town...Old Town is full of conflict, full of life; a sometimes maddening but always exciting place to live...It is important to stress that there is no such legal entity as Old Town. Old Town is where you make it. ”

— Richard Atcheson, Holiday Magazine March 1967
<2>

The violent events that took place during the 1968 Democratic National Convention transpired around the convention center, Grant Park, Old Town, and Lincoln Park, adjacent to Old Town.

Old Town is one of Chicago's most unique and inviting neighborhoods

Known for its diverse and exciting collection of restaurants, shops, and entertainment venues, the Old Town boundaries are as follows:

Eugenie Street to the north
Division Street to the south
Halsted to the west
Clark Street to the east

Tree lined streets, accented with historical streetlights and assorted outdoor cafes encourage visitors to take in the flavor of all that Old Town has to offer its neighbors and visitors to the area.

They're having a huge sale tonight and tomorrow morning.

I hear ya. I hate shopping too. My son's hated it and made
me miserable when I took them with me. I stopped taking them.
I'd guess the size, take it home and if it fit, fine.
If not? I'd exchange it without them being with me! :P

But I even hate shopping for me now.

Hope you can now relax, have a good meal, a cocktail and relax!

You've earned it! :toast:

I told my son to head there tonight for work clothes or in the AM.

He needs white dress shirts for his job and black dress pants.

I need undergarments and socks. I may go there myself in the morning! ;)

Good job, Mom!(?)! I hope you have your feet up now! :D
