There is just nothing like a Martin guitar! |
|
If it doesn't come from Nazareth, PA, it's just not good enough. Nothing else sounds like a Martin. Collings makes a good guitar, same specs, but it doesn't have that Martin sound. Taylor ... pffft ... you can have 'em. Gibson? Great electrics but don't bother me with a Gibbie acoustic.
Nothing else is a Martin (yeah, I'm playing mine now)!

1. My mom had a nice Guild that I learned to play on. |
|
Unfortunately I couldn't take it with me when I moved out. :(

4. Well, Guild doesn't really exist anymore unfortunately. |
|
So you can only compare ones that have been around a while. :(

7. New strings ... is that so much to ask? |
|
Your D-28 loves you. It gives so much. Is it so wrong to ask for new strings every year or so?

By the way, my strings last about a month, but I play a LOT.

9. Play it, by all means. |
|
What you think are dead strings may be just the top "going to sleep." It needs a good thrashing to wake it up.

10. Wish I could afford one. |
|
I have to say, though, I played a Taylor 614ce at guitar center and it was about the best sounding (to my ear) guitar I've ever played - maybe because of the maple. Most Taylor's sound too tinny to me. I'd buy that 614ce in a heartbeat!

11. My ex bought a Martin D34 and |

we got in a HUGE fight over it. He could have waited.
We couldn't afford it, at the time. :grr:
But it sure did sound purdy! :P
