Okay, give a DRays fan a high five. Look at the Spring standings |
|
Tampa Bay - best record in baseball. And standing up to the bullying Yanks to boot. This season may be fun!
Hey, at least let me have a little enjoyment here!

3. Everybody else in town is at the First Church of Titties and Prime Rib*? |
|
*based on my observation that every block in Tampa has either a church, a tittie bar or a steak house, this is my evil scheme to run the place

7. As if spring records had anything to do |
|
with how a ball club's gonna do in the regular season.
For most of the spring schedule, you've got a buncha guys playing who'll be in Double-A on March 30. It's only in the last week that you start to see what'll be pretty much the Opening Day lineups. That's half of what spring training's for — to give the managers and coaches a look at the rooks in game situations.
Spring's the only time I pay more attention to how individual players are doing. From April through October it's about the ball club, but March is like Who's Who.
But, by all means — enjoy it while you can. That's another of the great things about baseball — over 162 games, there's a lot to cheer about, even with the suckiest of clubs.
(Footnote: Giants and Mariners start in about 15 minutes. And it's on teevee.) :bounce:
