"Congratulations! The IRS has accepted your federal tax return."
Ahhh. We've been accepted. I'm so glad the IRS has accepted us. I was holding my breath for their liking us. It feels good to be accepted. I soooo needed their affirmation for my fragile personality. :sarcasm:

2. It's our first married refund... |
|
Pay off a loan. Not terribly exciting, but very practical.... and I'll be glad we can get rid of that.

I had us overpay on purpose...my husband is a spender, so I knew the only way to "hide" the money is to overpay, so that we could get some things paid off...and he knows it too ;)
I know some people say that i do it "wrong" because they want to earn their own interest during the year and pay in instead....but I say, if you had and extra 300 or so per month in your pocket....would you really save it? or would you spend that money and not even notice... I think that's what most people do...spend it...especially middle class/working class like us...who could actually spend that money on things we NEED. So I do it this way.
we're in texas, so no state income tax for us.

5. You have to do whatever works.... |
|
and if that's what works for you guys then it's what you have to do. I used to do that when I was single, for the same reason..I had my employer withhold an extra $10 out of every paycheck so I would get a big refund. And I agree 100%..most people would spend in just on day to day items. It's kind of nice to know at least ONCE during the year the bills are paid up (or off).

plus...
my husband has dyscalculia, which is sort of a dyslexia, but with numbers only....
so I have to do the budget...no way would I leave that up to him. Besides, he was glad that I could do that, since it's too hard for him anyway.
$5 $50 $500 is all the same to him unless it's right in front of his face dyscalculia is so weird...he KNOWS that 50 is more than 5, but if he tries to apply that in "his head"...doesn't compute.
but i guess that's a whole other post ;)
