This morning, a stray cat, now now longer stray and named Bakhti, that had followed my wife home about a month ago gave birth to six kittens. We were going to have her spayed right away, but out Vet said she doesn't spay pregnant cats and that their office would be happy to place the kittens. We're keeping two of them and will spay/neuter the lot of them, as well as Mom, when the time comes. Anyway, if anyone in the general DC Area vicinity wants a kitten in about eight weeks, let me know.

The Nashville Cat had a couple litters back in the day, and this reminds me of her. I prepared a nest for her- it was simply an old box with some old clothing in it, and I put it in my bedroom closet for her. The time came at about 2am, and I sat there on the floor next to her and helped birth them (mostly by talking to her and petting her. She did the rest herself.).

I reassured her that her Mom and I had had three human babies and they're a lot messier than kittens......

You mentioned giving some of the kittens away in six weeks ... I think that vets say that eight weeks is a more preferable age to do so. :hi:
