the Rock and Roll Camp for Girls in Portland, OR is pretty good. Film web site. YouTube trailer. The film is actually much better than the formulaic trailer suggests.

I went to the showcase for the summer rock camp at the Bagdad Theater a couple years ago and it was just great. Oh look, I posted about it, YouTube links included. All these bands put together in five days by girls aged 8-18, performing the songs they had come up with. So good and inspiring, and some really great music.

A lot of parents with their little daughters at the movie today. I know a lot of people whose daughters want to attend. These camps seem to be springing up around the country now.

5. just sent this stuff including you tube stuff

to a good friend who teaches one of the only middle school rock and roll programs that we're aware of in the U.S ( about 120 kids are involved, with a waiting list to get in... not part of band or orchestra etc. , they have their own fully equipped classroom) . He always encourages the girls to play guitar, drums and everything else too. There's one girl at this school who did go to the camp a year or two ago, and enjoyed it very much.
