found a 2007 Lemond Alp D'Huez on sale in my size. The bike shop switched out the crank set to give me a wider range. After years of riding a 1984 Bianchi it will be nice to have modern components. Now all I need to to is get my fat ass in gear.

2. I love my Trek Mountain Track |
|
It's about 10 years old, got it free from a neighbor, for helping him move in. Needed some work, I put $40 into it, I ride it year-round here in WI, I have no trouble riding through snow with it.

3. I tried a Trek road bike |

and a couple of Fuji, a Jamis and a Giant. The Lemond has a longer wheel base. They others were more designed for Criterion racing and not long distance touring. The Jamis was next best and had a forgiving steel frame.

Fat ass, I mean.:+
Just came back from a ride myself. It feels great to be on a bike. I have an eight year old Gary Fisher road bike. Works well for me.

is when you are on the little ring in the front, the big ring in the back and still heaving your guts out going up a hill.

I got an Iron Horse with all Ultegra last year. I'm looking foward to some long slow burns in the country.

6. Those seem to get good reviews |

but I don't think anyone carries them around here. I have plans to hit 3 century rides this year. I hope it doesn't kill me.

As far as road bikes go, those are built for comfort and have awesome components. Good purchase, and good luck this spring.
(I'm thinking of an old blues song about "I'm built for comfort, not built for speed"...)

9. You're going from an '84 Bianchi to a '07 Lemond! |
|
Wow! You are going to notice a huge difference. Post pics of the cool baby! It'll make my Trek roadster look like child's play I am sure.
