Man who beheaded hotel duck sentenced in Minnesota
T. PAUL (AP) - A former Colorado man who ripped the head off a duck in a St. Paul hotel has been sentenced to 21 days in the workhouse and 80 hours of community service.

Scott D. Clark pleaded guilty to felony animal cruelty in January. He apologized in Ramsey County District court on Wednesday and says he takes full responsibility for his actions.

Clark was at the Embassy Suites in downtown St. Paul on Sept. 22nd when he cornered a duck from the hotel's lobby pool and ripped its head off. Police say he was drunk.

2. if he tried that in Memphis, he wouldn't have made it out of the hotel lobby alive
Those ducks are sacred.

When the Peabody reopened after many years, there were billboards that said:

"All's Well in Memphis, The Ducks are Back"

(the ducks are escorted in every morning to the fountain pool, down a red carpet with a tuxedoed concierge, to the strains of "Stars and Stripes Forever"{aka Be Kind To Your Webfooted Friends"}. They swim and play in the fountain pool all day and are then escorted out in the afternoon, to the same music. It is a major tradition and draws large crowds daily. Also occurs in Orlando at the Peabody)

My mother would love that. She's a duck lady.

"Each team lives in the hotel for only three months before being retired from their Peabody duties and returned to the farm to live out the remainder of their days as wild ducks."

I was envisioning a group of lucky ducks, who get to live the high life all their lives. I wanted to live vicariously through them. Now my illusions have been shattered.

Each new group of ducks is made into royalty for 90 days, then turned out of Eden. It's a tragic tale.

15. I actually did not know the part about th e90 days until I read this and I have been
to the Memphis (original)Peabody and the ORlando as well.

In Memphis they play King Cotton March so I was wrong, but I clearly remember that the Orlando hotel plays Stars and Stripes Forever. It is still a hoot to watch. Just get there early as it gets really crowded.

The butter in the restaurants is molded to look like ducks and the gift shop has every kind of little ducky thing one could possibly imagine

11. I've stayed at the Peabody.
It would be a cool hotel even without the ducks.

3. I hope that's enough
to make sure he never hurts another animal ever again. x(

But I'm a sceptic. Nobody does that all of sudden without having some serious issues anger and cruelty issues.

7. What a jerk
I have no sympathy or compassion for him whatsoever. Taking the life of a poor, innocent, defenceless animal like that. What a worthless and pathetic excuse for a human being
