Is it a classic sci-fi night, or a film noir night? |
|
On the one hand, I have Blade Runner (The Director's Cut), Forbidden Planet, The Day The Earth Stood Still, War Of The Worlds (did you know the Star Trek photon torpedo firing sound effect came directly from War Of The Worlds?), Méliès Trip To The Moon, and When Worlds Collide.
On the black-and-white front, I have the classic Bogart duo-- Casablanca and The Maltese Falcon, with Fred McMurray's Double Indemnity on the side.
Other possibilities are Tomb Raider and The Manchurian Candidate.
Gonna be a long night! Glad I have plenty of popcorn...

1. If it were me, I'd be going for Casablanca |
|
I haven't gotten any Bogart on DVD yet, and it's been killing me.
Though I'd first get "To Have and Have Not" - I LOVE that one, and then after it is Casablanca and Maltese Falcon.

2. always go with classic sci-fi!! |
|
at least, I do. Last night I hosted a "When Nature Rebels" night and showed:
Shark Zone (quite possibly the worst movie ever made review available at www.horrorview.com) Willard (the new one with Crispin Glover... it was okay)
Started late so I could only get two in.

3. Can I come over to your house and watch Blade Runner with you? |
|
That is my favourite sci fi movie. It is so great.

I find the (baby) lingo (baby) a little (baby) dated (baby)...
Edward G Robinson stole that flick.

Blade Runner is the best of both worlds.

8. Actually, I hadn't thought of that! |
|
Too, too cool!
Blade Runner it shall be, then Casablanca (it's been years since I've seen it all the way through).

10. Since you've decided on two... |
|
if you do a third, may I suggest Forbidden Planet? You can then watch Shakespeare as Science Fiction.

11. Every night should be film noir night! |
|
Having said that...The Manchurian Candidate is an excellent movie.
But a Bogey Double Feature would rock too.

12. I think you should WATCH Casablanca, but LISTEN to Bladerunner |
|
Sort of a sci-fi/noir/dada evening.

16. Depends on the weather |
|
If it's cold and/or raining, go with the Bogart. I'd watch Casablanca first and get it out of the way. If you are having mild weather. I'd start with War of the Worlds, follow that up with Day, then Forbidden Planet and, if you are still awake, Blade Runner...

17. Interesting technique |
|
Equating a flick to the weather conditions. Something I have not considered...
