I want to thank everyone in The Lounge who supported me when i found out I was diabetic |
|
I have, through complete dietary change and exercise (morning and evening, 30 minute walks) and the help of oral meds, lowered my non-fasting blood sugar level to consistently below 140...which is a darn sight better than the FASTING level of 277 I had when first diagnosed.
I really craved sugar for the first couple of weeks, but that jones is dissipating...and I have lost 7 pounds!!!
Not to mention that I feel much better; more energy, brighter outlook, clearer thinking in my reading and analytical writing.
All-in-all...a silver lining to the cloud.
Thanks again, everyone. :hi:

My body is really taking to the new regimen...I think it had been craving health for a long time. I am 6'3" and was 256 at my daughter's wedding last June; now I am down to 241 and CAN'T WAIT to descend into the 230's...I hope to get to about 200, with appropriate muscle tone and maybe a bit of bulk (for the dear wife, you know ;) )

...I am working on becoming a Historian (which is only to say that I am in a Graduate history program) and reading and writing are a significant portion of my life, so...nothing like getting red and blue "sparks" in my vision, and my soon-to-be-doctor daughter telling me that diabetes can cause blindness, to make me serious about adressing the issue.
It just seemed like it was going to be so much work But I feel soooo much better!
Thanks for your encouragement!
