Cheaper on utilities. Less upkeep mowing shoveling etc.

3. House. Neighbors 12" away |
|
no good for me.
I also have a bunch of dogs. I also hate the idea of another entity telling me what I can/can't do (townhouse association...I wouldn't live in a deed restricted community of single family homes, obviously).
Though, what would appeal to me if I wasn't in my situation, are the amenities that might come with a townhouse. If there's a pool, tennis, gym, etc, that would be a big draw.

4. Depends on the rent, neighborhood, etc. |
|
My place is a townhouse, and I get a great deal for the neighborhood- a comparable single family home would likely cost half again as much. But I share a laundry room, which is an annoyance, more because of having to get dressed and put my shoes on to wash clothes than because of any issues with my neighbors. My townhouse doesn't have my own dedicated fenced in yard area, and I'd like it better if it did. But both of those issues are pretty minor when I look at what I get for my money.

5. depends on the situation...If I were single, it would be an apartment |
|
so I wouldn't have to do the yard and maintance and things
our family? A house unless the townhouse had cool ammenities like a pool and clubhouse ect

can help it. Noise. Noise. Noise.

10. My ex and are negotiating the idea of sharing a duplex |
|
Basically he'd own it live in one half and I'd rent the other half at a reduced rent in lieu of child support. In my case it would work out great because I wouldn't have to worry about the kids leaving stuff at their dad's house (because it's right next door!), the kids will virtually never be alone to get into mischief (i.e., with the opposite sex)and we figure we can share our wifi, share laundry facilities if we have to and as my 11 year old pointed out she'll be able to go over to dad's side if the bathroom is occupied. There are privacy and boundary issues that we're going to have to establish but we've been divorced for over 7 years so I think we're both over it enough to deal with it.

11. Ah, the modern relationship |
|
you have a permutation I haven't heard of before. Talk about an amicable divorce!
Are you staying together because of the children?

12. Probably a Townhouse... |
|
...Having lived in Spain for so long, I've kinda developed a comfort zone with living closely to other people. Plus, there are many "extras" that can go with living in a Townhouse (i.e. Pool, Gym, etc).

13. It's a tough choice between house and townhouse |
|
I'd rather have one of those than an apartment, that's for sure.
