An odd, embarassing, possibly inappropriate request for me and my cat Jewel:
Edited on Sun Apr-06-08 08:36 AM by Political Heretic
Many of you know the story of how I became a pet lover and partner (I dunno.. "owner" just bothers me) for the first time. I took in a stray cat that was living under my porch when I heard it crying during our first winter blizzard. It has been love ever since. It's been a learning experience as I've never taken care of a pet before. But its changed my life in some ways.

Some of you also know that its been a rough year - bankruptcy, near breakdown... I'm not going to go into it all again. Suffice it to say that I am in grad school full time, doing a full time internship and working night shifts over the weekends to get by, living on a fixed and shoe-string budget. Normally I get it covered.

Here's my question, and its really embarassing. If it wasn't for my cat, I wouldn't ask because if it was just me, I'd be too embarrassed and I'd just suffer. I am out of money until I get paid on April 10th. It took all of my money to pay my rent. Now, I'm fine - but I came home tonight through out the last of dirty cat litter only to discover that I am out of cat litter. I have a little food left for Jewel, but I'm worried that I'll run out before thursday.

Is there anyone who trusts me enough to loan me (via paypal) 10-15 bucks so that I can buy kitty litter and a little extra food for Jewel? I would pay you back through paypal April 10th? I live alone, and honestly with work and school taking up all of my days I haven't made too many friends I can turn to.

Believe me, this ranks up there with the most awkward thing I've ever done. And I'm not even sure that the mods will appreciate me doing it. But dammit... I want my cat to be happy, I have fallen so in love with her. I'm willing to look like a fool or someone who can't take care of himself in order to make that happen.

Please let me know via PM.

5. just a note to say that...in a pinch....
...torn up newspapers will sub for kitty litter. I hope things are better for you real soon. Don't be afraid to ask for help -- when you do so, someone else has the opportunity to be generous and helpful.

6. yeah, or paper from the shredder
it is not as neat as litter, but it works in a pinch. Take care, you two and I am so glad that you've discovered feline love.

8. Your cat looks just like my cat
I have a black female love cat, too. I'm living on disability or I'd contribute to the litter campaign. I've never learned how to post pictures or even to get anything into photobucket. If any one wants to know what Toonsie Mooner Mow looks like it's just like Political Heretic's cat. I'm sure you can all rest now.

10. Hey, I'm late to the thread, so sorry!
Was going to go tear my place apart finding my Paypal PW (having to borrow my sister's computer these days). Then I saw that somebody else already stepped in.

SWEET! These DU peeples truly DO care that the furbabies don't go hungry! Lovely kittah you've got there! Her purrs will help you make it through the rough times. Good luck, you will make it!
