Husband is on a 10 day business trip, kids are off at college. I am home alone with the pets. AND THEY ARE DRIVING ME CRAZY!
I actually am planning my day around play times for the cat and dog.
Do you think they feel that I am lonely? And that's why they are in my face so much? I have exercised both today and the dog just tried to climb in my lap while I type this...And he's 75 pounds.
And now the red sox are on in 10 minutes and the dog gets really agitated when I start yelling at the TV. So I should watch CSI instead?

Nah, watch your game!
Give the dog a bone to chew or something and do what you feel like!
You should not have to plan your day around play time for your animals....

2. I'm still training my pets to be people-friendly |

Piri always was, until she went psycho and I got her Piers.
Since Piri is a she and Piers is a he, and parrotlets tend to let the females be the aggressive defenders, she now sees me as an outsider, despite having her longer.
By Friday, Piers will hopefully be tame enough to get to play on the dining room table with Piri.
