How difficult can it really be to obtain a copy of one's marriage |
|
license from 1966 if I know the date , the church and the county? In Colorado, I didn't have to go with my husband to get the license, and no blood tests were required. Now, I supposedly have to write EVERY COUNTY in colorado to find out where he obtained the license, and then it may not even be recorded?? Excuse me??? Am I confused?
I divorced in Iowa in 1976..and have requested a copy of that for 3 weeks and it has been in the mail 2 times in the last 3 weeks, and I have never received it. Nor do I expect to until I call (I have also written twice).
Anyone here have any trouble like this...and solutions? Thanks

Any time you have to deal with any government agency, bureaucracy, whatever, you're going to have to deal with incompetence. It seems to be a fact of life.
Isn't there a central state registry for marriage licenses? Didn't he get the license in the county in which you were residing at the time?
After all these years, to have to get that kind of documentation, you're going to have a hard time because they're going to have to go into the microfiche (or the equivalent) to get it. I've been there. Just stay on them.
And good luck .......
