Huge fire last night, two houses from us!

We witnessed a devastating fire in Sausalito, CA, just two houses from where we live. Fortunately, everyone got out safely, and the wind was low, so no other houses were affected. If the wind conditions had been different, at least 4 other homes would have been effected, possibly including ours.

When we got evacuated, while hosing down our neighbor's roof, the only thing I could think of was getting my laptop and photos out. I had no care at all for the rest of the stuff. Puts things in perspective.

The main reason for this mesage, though, is to encourage you get rid of flamables! For instance, we realized that we have a 1 gallon container of propane for our camp stove, and it's stored in a room right under our bedroom! Hello?! What were we thinking?! The reason this fire was so devastating is that there were horrible explosions from old paint cans, etc.

The Fire Department was wonderful, but most of the house looks to be unsalvageable.
