The limitations of genius
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genius

Some research shows that reasons other than maladjustment make companionship difficult to find for geniuses. As intelligence of a person increases, the number of those whom he or she considers peers tends to decrease. For example, at an IQ of 135 (on the Wechsler Scale) only every hundredth person would be of equal or greater IQ. This number shrinks significantly as IQ goes up.

Dr. Leta Hollingworth introduced the idea of an essential "communication limit" based on IQ. According to her theory, to be a good leader of one's contemporaries, he/she must be more intelligent but not too much more intelligent than the people who are being led. This implies that geniuses may not make good leaders of those substantially less gifted and that they could have disdain for authority. The theory also states that children and adults become intellectually ostracized from their contemporaries when an IQ difference of 30 points or more exists.

At least, that's how the theory goes...

1. Kind of reminds me of a line from the second Ringworld novel
Where Chmeee is raving about having found sentient female Kzinti on the Ringworld. "Sentient females, Louis! Rrrrrrrr!!!" It seemed like the fantasy of every sci-fi geek who was ever born.

Slightly OT, but I chuckle every time I think of that line.

3. i have a very high IQ however it has never really prevented me from finding friends and partners
largely because i dont think intelligence comes in one form.

i am bright at academia, lisa makes music and guitars. her intelligences is just different from mine.

4. Genius is far ahead of
everyone else, and so not appreciated. No one follows genius, they just ooh and ahh over one when s/he is safely dead.

7. Dead

I think genius should be applauded and cultured and utilized to its full, God-given intent.

I don't care much for death. It stunts growth far more than 30 cups of coffee given to a toddler.
