I am on the phone with phone with Direst TV and the guy said the reason |
|
my remote was not working was I have Energizer Batteries in it and it wouldn't work with energizer batteries. :wtf: I had JUST gotten home from the grocery store buying new re-chargeable AA and AAA batteries and you know how expensive they are.
I was furious. Then he said it WAS an issue in the past but not an issue now. He was nice enough to sign me up for the protection plan today so I would only have to pay $19.95 instead of 79.95 on Monday when they send someone here.
Does this sound familiar to anyone? The wrong batteries on a remote is why your remote won't work???
We both ended up friends at the end after he signed me up for the protection that I have not had in a year and which I am going to cancel right after this shit is fixed. Plus I am trying to not hold onto anger as much now because it makes my stomach hurt.

1. I used to manage an electronics store, and I've never heard that one before. |

Batteries are batteries. High drain items will run through some batteries faster than others, but brand is unimportant (half of them come from the same factory anyhow) because an electron is an electron.

2. Did you charge the batteries before you put them in the remote? |
|
And if it's just batteries as he's alleged, why are they sending someone out?

It should have said so on the box/package as a matter of fact. They won't work unless you charge them first.

unless as flvegan pointed out, they hadn't been charged. This would still make the brand irrelevant. Which it is.

11. LOL Some people get pissed when someone starts a thread and then |

runs out so if there is a mistake you can't fix it AND more importantly to respond to the other posters.
By my brain runs out on me all the time. Sometimes I feel like I'm a cat that gets 1/2 way across the room and forgets where it was going.
Anyway, it's to late to fix.

7. ... that's got to be the dumbest thing I've ever heard. |

The brand of the batteries doesn't make a damn bit of difference. What matters is the voltage and amperage. AAA batteries are 1.5 volts, and I don't know how much the average amperage is, but I'd assume it's a fairly standardized thing.
