You can tell by these photos that I worked my ass off for 9 hours.
I drove the trolley from N Conway to Bretton Woods

Mt Wash Hotel, and yes, it is haunted.

From the back porch of the hotel

Mr Gray enjoying the view

Another view from the back porch

Mts. Washington, Madison and Adams

The front of the hotel

More of Mt Wash, etc

39. I know that hotel in Colorado
A company I used to work for sold soap and shampoo to them for their guests. He would call to place an order and tell the other gal I worked with how scary it was. He was getting things together for the summer season but it was late winter when he was there. He kept saying he saw Jack and the twin ghosts running around and maybe he should've never seen the movie because it sure got scary at night.

3. That hotel was just featured on "Ghost Hunters" a few weeks ago.

It was probably their best episode yet. They got EVPs of a woman (a princess?) and she was talking to them and answering their questions.

It was awesome.

Great pics btw.

Funny story about that hotel (well funny to me anyway.)

The Cohos Trail runs across that property (more info on the Cohos Trail here: http://www.cohostrail.org/ ) and several years back I was doing a week on the trail.

I stroll on up to the Mt. Washington Hotel, and look about for some indication of where the trail lies. Well, the trail about the property is none too well marked, at least it wasn't back then, so I proceeded to wander grounds of one on NH's fanciest establishments looking and smelling as only someone on an extended hike can. Such a case of stink eye I never received in all my life. I asked a couple of folks where the trail was and they had no idea what I was talking about (this was shortly after the trail was established) so I continued to wander about, no doubt offending the sensibilities of many of the guests until I finally found the trail was and moseyed on my way.

Nice place, not so hiker friendly though. :P

So welcome back to NH and happy trails (and driving) to you.

23. Bretton Woods, New Hampshire.
It's about 30 miles north of North Conway, up closer to Littleton and Bethleham, NH. It's very isolated except for the hotel and the Highland Center which is the Appalachian Mountain Club's resort for the rich.

27. Okay is this the place they built a railroad to?
An aunt of mine went to a seminar years ago at some place that the Morgans and Rockefellers and such built for themselves with a rail system exclusive to it

35. Nice!
I just finished reading Lucy Crawford's History of the White Mountains.

In there was a passage where her husband EA Crawford describes how he carries supplies back and forth to a group of hikers part way up the mountain then at the end of the day arriving back at their camp to find they expected him to cut wood and make supper. He obliged them and although they complained of the comforts or lack thereof for sleep he found no trouble getting to sleep that night :)

38. Mt. Wash Hotel has a strange mix of guests.
But the hardcore hikers stay at either The Highland Center down the road, or go over to Pinkham and stay there. Then they hike up to the huts for the night.
