I'm sad right now.
For kind of a dumb reason, too.

Remember I told you about my awesome 30-something friend who's currently taking a 6-12 month trip around the world? Well, her trip's going to be longer than 6-12 months. By a lot. She's not coming back until at least 2009. Of course, I'm super happy for her that she's having such a good time... but I miss her tons! And I can't believe she's not coming back until I, like, graduate high school! (At which point I'm going to have to take off for a while. I'm really not liking growing up right now.)

Shit. I'm about to cry. I'm such a clingy, pathetic person sometimes. It's really hard for me to get attached to people, but when I do, I get really attached, which occasionally bites me in the ass a bit. Like it is now. I really am going to cry, and I'm in a library full of people right now and am going to look like an idiot.

1. Oh sweetie

I have cried in the library a lot. It's ok. Our library has crazy library guy, who is always more interesting than some crying girl.

I'm sorry your friend is leaving for so long.

There, there, kiddo. She taking a laptop? If so you might want to think "webcam" and VOIP online stuff. lessens the blow a lot.

Thanks.

5. My dear AspieGrrl...
Go ahead and shed those tears, sweetie...

I still cry over lost friends...

And I would not say you're clingy...

You obviously recognize what you really need in your life!

Is there some way you can stay in touch?

13. My dear CaliforniaPeggy!
Thank you!

There is always facebook/e-mail... and perhaps I can make an obscenely expensive long distance phone call once in a while.

You are sweet.

6. Sorry, hon.
But think about all the cool stories she's gonna tell you, all the cool pics she'll send. And be sure that she sends you postcards. There's nothing cooler than getting a postcard and imagining what sort of adventures the sender is having. You'll be fine.

8. I'm sorry.

The time will pass quicker than you think. When my brothers went on two-year missions, I didn't know how I would be able to stand missing them for that long. But the time passed faster than I ever imagined it would.

Keep busy and spend lots of time with your friends who aren't traveling around the world. And try to keep in touch with her as much as possible. The time will fly by.

14. oh ffs!
she is missing her friend and hurting right now, a feeling that i think a lot of people can relate to. is it so hard to be empathetic or do you just like going out of your way to be nasty? what is wrong with crying because you miss someone?

17 is a tough enough age as it is, show some compassion

i know how you feel. my best friend left for germany in september 2005 for what was supposed to be a year but decided to finish her degree over there and it will be another year before she comes home. i've seen her a few times since she left and will see her in three months, but i miss her so terribly and can't wait for her to come home. then, 18 months ago, the third girl in our trio moved to germany too and there are times i've felt so alone since then.

20. Well, at least we have technology where you can see her
on your cell phone and computer. Just think of the old days when your friend would've got on a ship to cross the Atlantic and letters took about 4 months to get to you. I know...SO? But still, she can send you postcards from all over.

And.... I'm hoping she'll write to me when I'm at camp this summer.

So more like singing, dancing, painting, and other fun artsy things. :P

It's my 4th year going to this camp, and it's amazing. I'm very excited.

28. You'll be allright soon. You just have to grieve the loss of a good
friend for a bit, then you'll come out of it with a new attitude.

Are you going to keep in touch by email?
