1. Next episode: they install a yamaha outboard on the island.
That's so they can move it.

Seriously, I have no idea what happened. All I figured out new last night is that the issue w/time on the island is that it apparently isn't just slower in time, but evidently is weakly bound to time, and can zig-zag back and forth around the real right now, sorta like a ball on a rubber band.

And some people evidently DO NOT AGE EVER.

Whacked.

8. Yep.
He was there at Locke's birth. Also did a Dalai Lama-style test with him when he was a young child (he failed), and lured him to an intership at Mittelos when he was a teen (Locke declined).

Oh, and Abbadon made an appearance as Locike's orderly.

Did I mention Christian Shepherd was in Jacob's cabin? :D

5. Yeah, watching a serial television show at the next to the last episode of the 4th season
Edited on Fri May-09-08 09:46 AM by PeterU
Will sort of confuse you. Especially if it's Lost.

Watch it from the beginning, and it's a whole other matter. (Or perhaps, a whole Other matter. :) )

7. you have to see the rest to really grasp it
even then you don't always know what's going on, because there's something new uncovered in every episode. that's part of the appeal for me. if you are interested, go to ABC's website and you can watch every episode online. at least give the first couple of episodes a shot and see if you might enjoy it.

the first episode i watched was at the end of the 3rd season, and it made zero sense to me. i watched the next episode after that and gained some interest, and then took the time to watch all of the episodes in order. i became addicted pretty quickly.

24. I kid you not, if you get the dvds you will be hooked
It's like crack! But yeah, if you just jump in after almost 4 seasons, no effing way will you even understand anything. Hell I have watched every episode (except the previous one) and I still don't catch half the shit that goes on, but it's enough to get me excited. It's almost better to go and rent all the dvds, because then you can watch them all in a row, instead of getting tortured and having to wait for the next week to come along. Or the next season. Damn that is hell.

Is it possible to both love a television show and yet have no idea as to what is happening in it?

17. Watch the first three seasons
The show will never make sense if you don't have at least some of the back story. Hell, it's tough enough for those of us who have been watching since 2004.

String theory, quantum physics, eastern mysticism, conspiracies, interlocking personal histories, a homicidal cloud of smoke, people who won't stay dead, and a freakin' sailing ship in the middle of the jungle. There's no way this thing is going to make any sense on one viewing at this point.

25. based on that I would never get into it too. or I would think I wouldn't
But when you watch it, from the beginning episodes, it will suck you in. It's weird in that you don't have to be interested in string theory, quantum physics, eastern mysticism etc, or you could even abhor that stuff, but in the context of telling a suspenseful story it all works out. Here is what I recommend. rent the first two dvds. Probably has 8 episoded on them. Watch the first dvd, and if you can't get into it at all well that is that, but you're going to want to have that second dvd handy, because if you start getting into it, you're not going to want to have to wait to go rent it or anything. You'll already have it onhand. I honestly would go down and rent 3 or 4 of them, because I didn't watch the 2nd and 3rd seasons when they were on tv, and and knock all three or four off on a weekend. The suspense would kill me, I couldn't say start one when I was busy during the week, because I'd have to watch another. I'd just get most of the season, clear up the weekend and go for broke.

38. I happened to catch a few episodes
in the middle of the first season and was hooked. I had trouble piecing stuff together, but reruns caught me up and then I rented the first season when it came out. But yeah, it's one of those things that you could literally sit and watch it for 24 hours, for sure.

19. Because that's part of the fun.
First of all, you have to start from the beginning, or it's pointless. But the mystery and suspense that go along with having no idea what is happening, along with the fun of trying to figure out what is going on (or just going along for the ride) is what makes the show so great. Nevermind the really great character development.

26. Best character development I have ever seen in tv history
Not even close. I can't think of anything else that goes into characters so richly. And what is bizarre is some characters are even more interesting after they are dead and they pop up in flashbacks.

The Sayid episode earlier this year, when Ben is revealed at the end. Classic example of something blowing your mind right at the end. The suspense before the reveal. Brilliant. And Michael Emerson is one of the top bad guys in television history. He is flat-out awesome.

12. I'm beginning to think
that John and Ben both having a mom named Emily is not just a coincidence. Perhaps they are half siblings a la Jack and Claire?

And I liked how the Hugo Ben candy bar scene showed Ben being brought down from his previous position and being replaced by John. Now Ben is just hanging out with Hugo.

13. I think they are all characters in a video game
Last night suddenly that's what came to mind, that this is like a live-action version of a video game, in particular, one such as Black & White.

Who is "what's his name" - the guy who tested Locke when he was a kid? And what was that book, I didn't get the title, but my impression was that Locke was a reincarnated alchemist, but in strong denial (as demonstrated later in high school).

23. Hey if any of you like Brett Cullen aka Goodwin Stanhope from "The Others"
He is really fantastic in the first season of "The Young Riders" which is out on dvd. It's a fictional account of the Pony Express and he plays the local sheriff in the town they are stationed in. When I first watched it I kept trying to figure out where I saw him before then I watched "Lost" and he appeared in a flashback when Juliet finds out Ben sends him to die. He's twenty years older now, of course, but I recognized him. :)

I get the connection to Jack's dad, but was that just one of Locke's visions? If she was really there, has she been brainwashed recently? Or has she been a mole all along? Or since she got abducted a couple of seasons back?

52. Here's a little ditty I found at darkufo

The comic book that Richard Alpert showed young John Locke was Mystery Tales issue #40. This issue was published April, 1956.

The comic included story titles such as:

The Hidden Land! 4pgs
A Warning Voice! 4pgs
The Travelers 2 pgs
Crossroads of Destiny! 4pg
Notes: Features Roman emperor Gaius Julius Caesar (100-44 BC) and Italian navigator Christopher Columbus (1451-1506).
Sammy's Secret! 3pgs
The Silent Stranger 4pgs
March Has 32 Days 4pg

The Comics Code Authority (CCA) is part of the Comics Magazine Association of America (CMAA), and was created in 1954 to regulate the content of comic books in the United States. Member publishers submit comic books to the CCA, which screens them for conformance to its Comics Code, and authorizes the use of their seal on the cover if the books comply. At the height of its influence, it was a de facto censor for the U.S. comic book industry.
