~~ To My Mom (1912 - 2000) for Mother's Day ~~
Nothing is Lost

Kathy Mattea

Nothing is lost - not a hair, not a breath!
The lilac that blooms today is made of
last year's crumbled leaves and this morning's dew.
It has in it perhaps the breath of a tiger and
minerals that were part of an ancient dinosaur.
The raw materials of that lilac have perhaps spent time in
a seashell, a wagon wheel, a butterfly and a hawk.

How old is this morning's lilac? - And how old are you?
You are as young as the morning, as old as the world,
You are as new as a raindrop, as old as the mountains.
You are forever a part of the world.

In Memory of Mom

Mom, we miss you so very much
On every Mother’s Day;
And not just then, but every minute,
Since you went away.

You were the center of our lives
Before your soul passed on;
It’s just so hard for us to believe
That you are really gone.

But we celebrate the life you lived
And all the things you gave us;
Our wonderful memories, Mom, of you
Are the things that will comfort and save us.

Please think of us, as we think of you
With hearts so full of love;
We’re looking up at you, sweet Mom,
As you look at us from above.

2. I needed that....
Thanks for the hugs... :hug:

I don't usually get all wispy but I did this year. She loved lilacs and
lily of the valley, so I think I'll bring a bouquet to her this weekend

3. My mother loved flowers, too
I suppose that's where I get that from.

Here's a pic for you:

4. Mothers Are Special
I have almost lost my mom 3times, due to cancer and heart attacks, but she is an extremely
strong survivor, and is still with us.

Good Poem

5. Yes, they are special....
I always think, for me only, that's it's been so long since she died, that it's sort
of silly to be emotional now but I guess that's normal, especially on these holidays.
Mother's Day brings back sweet memories for me now and not so much sadness anymore.
Her suffering is over. I'm glad your mom has survived all that and you still have her!

Glad you liked the poems too. :hug:
