i should not be allowed to operate a motor vehicle
more often than not, it is likely to turn me into a ball of irrational rage because people are just too damn stupid.

i have encountered lately a number of drivers who think it is just dandy to pull their ginormous suvs or trucks so far forward to make a left turn that i have to wait for their idiot asses to make the left before i can make my right turn. sure, my car is about 75 feet long, but it sits low to the ground and i can't see through your vehicle, asshole. today, i was pulling up to a light to make a right and the moron next to me (who was driving a very large pickup) stopped at the light and the pulled into the crosswalk as i was rolling up to the intersection.

and blinkers, people. for the love of all things holy on this earth, use your damn blinkers. i can't read your minds and have no idea what you are doing. it's not hard, i promise you.

and don't tailgate me. i usually go about five over the limit but people seem to think they can get me to move faster if they follow me so closely that i can't see their headlights in my rear view mirror. i am only going to drop down to the speed limit just to spite you. yes, it's kind of an asshole passive-agressive thing to do, but it really pisses me off when you do that. what are you going to do if i have to stop short? what do you think is going to happen if your tupperware car hits the back of my ancient volvo wagon or my monstrous buick wagon? really? my car will suffer very little, if any, damage, but yours is likely to shatter into a million pieces and burst into flames. and please, please, please, do not zoom around me just to cut me off and jam on your brakes to make a turn. again, my car will be fine if i hit you, but yours will not.

don't even get me started on some bicyclists. do not run the stop sign while i'm going through the intersection. it's not difficult to ride on the proper side of the street, i do it every time i get behind the wheel. i know that not all bicyclists are like this, but the college kids here seem to think they are exempt from all traffic laws and can do what ever they please with impunity. i am very aware and cautious when i see you on the road, but you need to be so as well.

i wish i had a stupid-seeking missile rigged up james bond style to blow these asshats off the road. then again, i might abuse it :D it's getting more and more difficult for me to not pull a kathy bates and ram into your car like she did in fried green tomatoes or just drive like i'm in a demolition derby.

i know this is, in the grand scheme of things, ridiculous for me to get so irate about, but i just want to get where i'm going with the least amount of hassle and without any bloodshed.

i think i need to be medicated before i get in my car

1. You need to drive for a two second interval between cars.
So if somebody pulls in behind you to tailgate, you need to slow down to where there's a two-second delay between you and him.

4. that only works if they slow down
it's their decision to follow me too closely and i can't dictate what they do

7. the only problem is that i would be tempted to use it just willy nilly
there would be dead bodies littering the road and i would have to drive around them

5. Ugh, I hear you!!!
Ugh ugh ugh, to all of it! I've definitely pulled over to let people who are being assholes pass me. I know that that's "giving in" to their behavior, but I can't deal with them behind me!

One of the things that I'm really looking forward to after we move is having good enough public transportation that we won't even own cars! :)

i will pull over if i'm driving in the mountains or to the right lane on the interstate, but i've never thought to do it in town.

8. Liking the concept of "stupid-seeking missle".....
but when there's SO much stupidity out there, how do you get it to track properly?

13. I agree with everything you said
I used to be a very calm driver, but tailgating or not using blinkers or pulling out right in front of me when no one is behind me or bicyclists taking up the entire lane make me furious.

Also, the parking lot at my apartment had to put up signs. The rules of the road still apply, go slow there are children playing, that is the entrance and that is the exit.

It's like people's IQ drops 100 points behind the wheel of a car, not to mention their civility. It drives me crazy!

Oh, and coming to a dead stop to make a turn. Aaaarrrghhhh!

Khash.

16. I don't object to bicyclists
riding in the road if there is no bike lane or bike path. But they are supposed to ride to the side of the road. I'm talking about the ones who stay in the middle of the lane and won't move over so the car behind them can safely pass them.
