It's deliciously ironic and counterproductive how the DU leveling system works

After a certain point of heavy activity all the ignored people have the lights over them turned back on, and the flamefests erupt all over again, further increasing the load on DU servers.

as you note, it works against the goal of decreasing useless arguments.

as far as ignore itself, it is very useful. If someone puts someone else on ignore, it isn't necessarily because of any personal reason. it may be related to the sort of posts. however, if someone replies to something you've said, you can then read a reply via print format since you may have many people on ignore for various reasons and may want to read a comment because you have no idea who wrote it. You may choose to reply to it. However, in order to reply directly you have to go through the entire process of taking someone off ignore.

I have ppl on ignore that were there before the primary and will be there after the primary.

I have ppl who were on ignore last week that aren't on ignore this week. I see every post here, for instance.
