Had my pre-cancerous mole surgically removed. |
|
Apparently, it was a stage earlier than I thought. It was called a "severely displastic compound malanocytic nevus". If I had let it go, it likely would have progressed to "lentigo maligna melanoma".
Anyway, the doc cut a 3 inch eyeball shaped patch out of my back, and stiched it up. It didn't start hurting until about an hour ago, but it is not bad.
If you have fair skin, light eyes, had frequent sun exposure when you were younger, please check yourself for atypical moles. I am lucky I got mine at an early stage.

4. Just in case you ever need it... |

spelling is "severely dysplastic compound melanocytic nevus". :)
Glad you got it removed! :hi: The pain shouldn't be bad; it may bleed slightly at the stitch removal, and that might hurt a bit (depends on how tight they made the stitches), but really, it's pretty painless.

My left pinky must have been happy or something. I hate when I misspell because I am a spelling nazi.

7. Good for you - sounds like your dermatologist is pretty conservative |

I had that same incision for an in situ malignant melanoma (you've got a 4-5 inch scar right?).
For me, it didn't hurt much right afterwards, but I felt more soreness in the days and weeks following the procedure, I think as the deep stitches started to loosen. Make sure you follow the instructions about rubbing and massaging the scar tissue over the next few months to keep it flexible.
Congratulations on catching the problem early!
